What are You Building On?

Building Codes
Building codes are needed to protect the people who will be living in the structure. They offer suggestions and requirements in order for a place to be approved to build. Without these codes, homes could fall down and no one would want to live in a home without meeting the specifications. If a house is built on a solid rock foundation with good building materials it will last a long time. However, if cheap materials and shoddy craftsmanship are used in construction, then time, storms, earthquakes and multiples product failures will render it useless.
So what does this have to do with us today? When we accept Christ as our Savior and make Him Lord of our being, He becomes that solid foundation. I Corinthians 3:11-14, "For no one can lay any other foundation than what has been laid down. That foundation is Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on that foundation with gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, or straw, 13 each one’s work will become obvious, for the day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire; the fire will test the quality of each one’s work. 14 If anyone’s work that he has built survives, he will receive a reward."
We must be careful to make the Lord our foundation and build our lives with the Word of God. This includes us giving Him the best in our time, resources, and devotion.
Life will test us. The fires of trials and persecution will burn up everything that is not of great value. We must invest and build with pure motives to please our King.
Build wisely.
Build for Eternity.
