They Unfollowed Jesus

From the heart of Jana McDonald, Director of Transformed Women

Before the unfollow option on social media, Jesus was unfollowed.

In John chapter 6, Jesus had just finished feeding the 5000. The people saw all these miracles, signs, and wonders, and the multiplication of the fish and the loaves. Can you even imagine being there in person?! The people were absolutely amazed!

Then Jesus gives his teaching on the bread of life which is incredibly powerful.

John 6:53
“So Jesus said again, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you cannot have eternal life within you.”

Jesus is explaining that you cannot be His disciple or have eternal life unless you let Him permeate every part of you.  Jesus comes in and you eat His flesh and and drink His blood (communion) but it’s so much more than that.  It’s every part of your life being transformed.  It’s what you watch, what you listen to, how you spend your money, how you spend your time, who you hang out with, what you post on social media, everything you do and everything you say. It’s what you’re doing alone and what you’re doing out in the open where everyone can see.  It’s every part of you being consumed by Jesus if you want to be His disciple.

John 6:60-65
“Many of his disciples said, “This is very hard to understand.  How can anyone accept it?”  Jesus was aware that his disciples were complaining, so he said to them, “Does this offend you? Then what will you think if you see the Son of Man ascend to heaven again?  The Spirit alone gives eternal life.  Human effort accomplishes nothing.  And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.  But some of you do not believe me.”  (For Jesus knew from the beginning which ones didn’t believe, and he knew who would betray him.)  Then he said, “That is why I said that people can’t come to me unless the Father gives them to me.”

Then in John 6:66:  “At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him.”

THEY UNFOLLOWED JESUS!
After seeing all the miracles with their own eyes, literally eating the fish and bread that was miraculously multiplied, they deserted Jesus!

From lack of understanding, to feeling like it was just too hard and not wanting to put in the work.  Whatever their reasoning, they chose to walk away, to unfollow Jesus.

Friends, Jesus had to be willing to be unfollowed to continue to follow God and to continue to do His will.

We have to be willing to be unfollowed by those that don’t understand our calling to continue to walk in God’s light and love.

Stay focused on the Father to carry out the mission you have been created and purposed for. Be blessed.

What a beautiful and eye opening realization! It's OKAY to be unfollowed! Even Jesus was unfollowed! WOW.
