What\'s Holding You Back?

From the Heart of Dr. Kristi-

Are you wanting more of the Lord but have not been able to see it in your life yet? I know there have been times in my life where I was seeking the Lord and I felt like there was a block that kept me from receiving.

First, the Lord is wanting us to draw near to Him and He WILL draw near to us. That is a promise! He longs for you and I to sit with Him, commune with Him, and listen for Him to answer. He sent Jesus to earth to redeem us back to Himself and an eternal relationship. This is the heart of our Father.

If you and I sense a block, it is not on the Lord's end but ours. Here is a list of possible reasons why:
Stress/Worry/Fear
Unforgiveness
Anger/hatred towards someone
Pride
Not patiently waiting in His presence
Over thinking
Need to control
Unrepented sin

While this list is not exhaustive, hopefully it will help you to identify what might be going on in your life.

So what do we do when we sense the flow of the Spirit is stopped up in our lives?

1) First, pray! Ask the Lord to reveal to you anything that might be going on. Don't over analyze your life. The Lord is more than willing to reveal a block when we come to Him.
2) Second, repent for things you are aware of. Lord, forgive me for gossiping. Lord forgive me for trying to figure things out in my life apart from You. Whatever you need to say you are sorry for, do it. Go ahead. He already knows what you are going to say.
3) Wait. Once you have prayed and repented, then wait for Him to reveal if there is anything. Maybe the Lord is waiting on His perfect timing. Maybe He is testing you to see if you are truly desirous of more of Him and are willing to continue to press into Him.
4) Continue to read your Bible, spend time in a devotion, worship, go to church, and pray. Do not stop seeking Him.

I will never forget when the Lord revealed a sin that I was unaware of. I was driving my car and all of the sudden, I felt the Spirit descend on me and my eyes were opened. I was so upset at what the Lord revealed. I quickly repented and felt sorrow for a couple of days. While no discipline feels good in the moment, I was so thankful the Lord revealed this situation to me. It brought healing in a relationship and drew me much closer to Him.

Hebrews 12:11 (NIV), "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."

Allow His Word and work to produce fruit in your life. If this is not an issue in your life today, keep it in mind because someday it might be. Feel free to forward it to someone who might need it.
