God's Love Overcomes Everything

When I was broken, I had a difficult time realizing how much God loved me. I thought my situation revealed a different characteristic than what the Bible stated. How could God say He loved me when I was hurt so badly?

The enemy, the devil, is the father of all lies (John 8:44). He wants you to think that God has left you, thereby triggering you to question, “If God really loved me, then why did He allow this to happen?” You may even think God is good for everyone else but you because in some way you are not good enough or special enough.

Here is the truth: John 3:16. We were dead in our own sin, and God wanted to have relationship with us so fiercely that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on a Cross and give eternal life to those who believe. When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, that broke fellowship with God. They were removed from the Garden and placed outside of it. This placement prevented them from walking in His presence unhindered.

The Law was given through Moses to institute sacrifices because without the shedding of blood, there can be no forgiveness of sins (Hebrews 9:22). Jesus came in the form of a human and lived among us to reveal the Father and lay down His life as the sacrifice to pay for our debt. He rose from the dead after three days and is now seated at the Father’s right hand (Ephesians 1:20). We can only love Him because He first loved us (1 John 4:19). Romans 5:6-8 says, “You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” The knowledge of Jesus as your Savior is critical to receiving His love. Let the Spirit draw you to Him right now.

Once we admit this truth, He meets us right where we are. In Romans 8:35-39, Paul emphasizes how the love of the Lord will never leave us: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Nothing can separate you from God’s love. No mistakes or decisions you made can make God angry at you and cause Him to cease loving you. No harm done to you can make you unlovable. Situations come and go, but the Lover of your soul remains. Yes, until eternity and beyond!
