Are you a people pleaser?
Answer by Nicki Hausman: Transformed Women's Leadership Team
I have struggled most of my life trying to please people. Can you relate to this? I would rate myself on average, a five, on a scale from one to ten. However, recently the Lord convicted me of my behavior and revealed that I was striving. That revelation, stopped me in my thought process. He said I had made myself the Savior and provider for those that I try to serve. Stunned. Speechless. I had to repent.
Today as I am reading, I understand the example that I am to follow in John 8:28 (ESV), "So Jesus said to them, 'When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own authority, but speak just as the Father taught me. 29 And he who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.'"
It is my responsibility to lift up the Risen Savior and follow His Spirit as I serve others. He is the Provider, Healer, Deliverer, and Friend. My goal and objective is to please and glorify Him, not people. What a relief! This takes the pressure off of me to have all the answers or to please everyone. The Lord is getting things in order in my life. How about you?
