How do I wait?
What do I do while I wait for the next ministry opportunity?
Kristi’s Answer:
I get this question frequently. I think waiting occurs most of our life. We hurry up and wait, hurry up and wait.
There is a two-fold answer to this question. First, continue to press into the Lord. Fight the temptation to become discouraged or want to give up. The enemy knows patience is difficult for most of us so he bombards our thoughts in order to prompt us to either give up or become complacent. Worship wins the war. Take time every day to be still, worship, and read the Word. Keep the fire stirred up with in you. Do not lose your passion for Jesus.
Secondly, bloom where you are planted. If the Lord has you at a specific job until your dream job opens, then be the best employee you can be at your current one. If you are waiting on that new ministry to begin, join a prayer group, greet at church, or find something to do while you wait. A word of caution here, don’t get deeply involved or committed to something that is not Sprit led. In other words, don’t lose focus on the main aspect just so you can be busy.
